A Certified Eco-Friendly Dental Office
At Claremont Smile Design, we are proud of the fact that we are the first California Certified Eco-Friendly Dental Office. We believe in providing the best, most comprehensive array of dental services while keeping our commitment to green standards, and a better environment for today - and for future generations.
As an example of our commitment, during the construction process of our new office, all debris was diverted to a recycling center and we used building materials such as ceiling tiles and cabinet material with recycled content. The eco approach extends to the rest of the office. We used rapidly renewable resources where ever possible, such as bamboo flooring. And for the interior environment, we used low emitting adhesives and ultra low VOC paints on the walls. as well as any composite wood products, such as the melamine used for the custom cabinetry, that contained not added urea-formaldehyde. We also incorporated energy efficient lighting, appliances, office and dental equipments to reduce the total energy level required for day to day operation, abundant window and lighting domes to make efficient use of natural light sources. Each piece of our furniture has eco-friendly certified sustainable, kiln-dried hardwood frame and the rest of the office is recycled.
How are we green?
We are a paperless office, offering mercury-free restorations. Installing of a special dry vacuum filtration system allows for the environmentally sound disposal of old mercury fillings, to prevent pollution of our local water ways. Our patients are exposed to 90 percent less radiation with the use of digital imaging technology instead of x-rays for tooth imaging. This also eliminates the needs for the chemicals that process x-rays. The use of steam-based surgical-grade instrument sterilization, contains no harmful chemicals and reduces water use. The biodegradable sterilization solutions such as tea tree oil and thyme are used to clean examination areas.
Our compressor and vacuum require no oil or water. Chlorine-free, high post consumer recycled paper products instead of traditional paper products. By filtering our drinking water and distilled water, we eliminate the need for plastic water bottles that fill our landfills.
